Mentoring Services for Trainers and Behaviourists
Working in the animal behaviour and training industry can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also feel overwhelming, particularly when you are dealing with complex cases, difficult client conversations or simply trying to find your feet as a professional.
Whether you are taking your first steps towards a career in dog training and behaviour, are already working with clients, or are an experienced professional looking for a fresh perspective, mentoring can provide a valuable space to learn, reflect and develop.
If you are...
- A trainer or behaviourist working in private practice or a rescue environment or perhaps new to the industry and looking for some direction
- Working independently and looking for someone to bounce ideas around with
- Struggling with specific cases and need to talk it through
- Wanting to develop your behaviour assessment and case planning skills
That’s where mentoring can help.
I offer one-to-one mentoring and coaching for trainers and behaviourists at all stages of their journey. A supportive, judgement-free space where we can talk through cases, explore ideas, challenge your thinking and help you develop your skills and confidence as a professional.

Passionate about helping trainers and behaviourists develop their confidence, think critically and find their own way of working
I believe mentoring should feel like a conversation, not a classroom. Sometimes you just need someone to listen, ask the right questions and help you untangle a case

Talk It Through Sessions
Got a tricky case, a question you can't quite answer, or simply want a second opinion? Bring it along and we'll talk it through together. These informal one to one sessions give you the space to bounce ideas around, explore different approaches and work through whatever you're currently stuck on. No preparation or perfect answers needed, just come with your questions.
Online 60 minutes - £50
Book a block of 4 - £190

Case Supervision
Have a case you’d like support with from start to finish? Case supervision gives you the opportunity to lead the consultation yourself, with support before, during and after the case.
We’ll spend 45 minutes beforehand going through the case information together, discussing your assessment, thoughts and proposed approach. You’ll then run the consultation while I observe, giving you the opportunity to put your skills into practice with the reassurance that you have support alongside you.
Following the consultation, we’ll have a further 45 minute debrief to reflect on the case, discuss your observations and decisions, consider alternative approaches and identify any areas you’d like to develop further.
You can also send me your written report before it goes to the client, so we can review your recommendations, wording and overall approach together.
A supportive way to gain experience, build confidence and develop your clinical reasoning while working through real cases. Available online or within 20 mile radius of Retford.

Case Shadowing
Want to see how a behaviour case is approached from start to finish? Shadow me on a real client case and get an insight into the practical side of working as a behaviourist.
You'll receive the relevant case information and materials a few days beforehand. You'll then join me for the consultation and, afterwards, we'll have a 45 minute debrief to talk through what we saw, the decisions I made, alternative approaches and any questions you have.
Sessions can be attended in person if you're local to South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire or Lincolnshire, or we can explore online options where appropriate.
A great opportunity to observe, ask questions and learn from a real case without having to lead the consultation yourself. Maximum 3 mentees to one session.
Pre-recorded cases also available on specific behaviour problems.
£40

Case Club
Sometimes it helps to have a few other brains in the room.
Bring along a friend or colleague and use the session as a space to talk through cases, share ideas and learn from each other. We’ll discuss the cases you’re currently working with, explore different ways of approaching them and think through anything you’re finding challenging.
Sessions are limited to 3 people, so there’s plenty of opportunity for everyone to contribute and ask questions.
£35 per person, 2-3 people

Shadow Classes or 121s
Want to see how I work with dogs and their owners in a real training environment? Join me in person and shadow a class or one to one training session, giving you the opportunity to observe my approach, see how I adapt training to the individual dog and owner, and ask questions about the decisions being made along the way.
We can arrange a brief pre-session chat to discuss what you'll be observing, followed by a quick chat afterwards to talk through what you saw, ask questions and discuss alternative approaches.
A relaxed, practical way to gain experience and see the realities of working with clients and their dogs first hand.
Available in person across South Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire, depending on location.
FREE! But donations of hot chocolate, green tea or biscuits are always much appreciated!
